Annual parade to march through Diamond Valley this weekend

Members of the Lil Legendary Leos ride a float and wave to the crown during the Diamond Valley Parade in Diamond Valley on June 3, 2023.
This year's parade will see a route change due to major road construction on 1 Ave NE-NW, the usual detour route. Instead, the parade will travel north on 1 Street SW and turn west at 1 Avenue SW instead of east, and it will not travel on Government Road and Centre Avenue.

Diamond Valley's popular parade is marching through town once again on Saturday, June 1 for Discovery Day.

The 56th annual parade, a Diamond Valley mainstay since 1968, is the event's second iteration since the amalgamation of Black Diamond and Turner Valley at the beginning of 2023.

This year's parade kicks off at 10 a.m. and will see a route change due to major road construction on 1 Ave NE-NW. The parade will now travel north on 1 Street SW and turn west at 1 Avenue SW instead of east, and it will not travel on Government Road and Centre Avenue.

There will be also be no complimentary shuttle service provided from Turner Valley to Black Diamond, unlike last year's parade.

The day will kick off with Oilfields High School's traditional pancake breakfast hosted by staff and students in the gym, starting at 8:30 a.m. this year and ending when supplies run out.

After the parade, the Diamond Valley Discovery Day market and other family activities are happening in Millennium Park throughout the day.

The parade is still accepting float registrations and volunteers.
