Sean Burns & Lost Country will be co-headlining the first Beneath the Arch show of the season on Sept. 21, alongside Skinny Dyck and band.

Two talented acts will take the Flare n' Derrick stage this Saturday, marking the return of Beneath the Arch.

Skinny Dyck, a well-known Lethbridge steel guitar player performing his original playful country twang alongside his band, and Sean Burns & Lost Country, a Winnipeg-based band playing unique vintage country music, will kick off the non-profit concert series in Diamond valley.

Burns, who regularly tours with renowned Albertan country musician Corb Lund, is fond of performing honky-tonk and singing about "highways and heartbreaks, of drinkers, drunks, trains and trucks in every imaginable live performance scenario."

When not performing with Corb Lund & The Hurtin’ Albertans, Burns leads Lost Country, a trio featuring Grant Siemens on guitar, Joanna Miller on drums and vocals and Burns on upright and electric bass.

Dyck, who previously performed with other artists including Burns before kicking off his own individual music career in 2020, is looking forward to showcasing his original work at the concert.

"It's a little bit of a turn with some new flavours and textures and song forms that kind of step a little bit away from that genre," he said, referring to country music.

Dyck's next full-length album Easygoing, releasing on Oct. 25, reflects his notion of “country but not" through unique approaches such as synth and psychedelic spoken word.

Dyck will take the stage as guitarist and vocalist alongside his four-piece band, featuring Brock Geiger on bass, Ben Longman on guitar and Clayton Smith on drums.

The show will be held at the Flare n' Derrick Community Hall on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 7:30 p.m. to Tickets can be purchased online here or in-person at the Bluerock Gallery and Sheep River Library.

Beneath the Arch presents seven shows annually, and revenue goes towards initiatives such as the young performing artists' bursary

The next instalment in the monthly concert series will feature The Once, an award-winning folk trio from Newfoundland. The full concert lineup is available here.
