Meet characters from a galaxy far, far away right here in the Foothills.
The Diamond Valley Sustainable Living Centre is hosting its first anniversary celebration on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The volunteer-run organization provides a 2,800-square-foot facility where all community members are welcome to become members and access the makerspace.
In attendance will be members of the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion, international Star Wars fan organizations specializing in cosplay for good causes.
They will host an armour party from noon to 1 p.m. where guests can learn how the cosplayers build their costumes, along with chatting about the Star Wars universe and getting photos with Stormtroopers, Mandalorians and more.
The centre is home to high-tech equipment, including a 3D printer and a cutting-edge laser cutter, as well as plenty of traditional carpentry and welding tools.
