Students operating weekly produce market in Diamond Valley

Staff and students at Oilfields School gather during a market at the school in 2022. This year, students will be selling microgreens and herbs at a weekly market every Thursday.

Fresh herbs and microgreens will be available at a weekly market run by Diamond Valley students.

The market begins this week at Oilfields School. Items grown in the school’s vertical garden will be for sale every Thursday from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

The herbs and microgreens are grown by students in a 40-foot long, converted sea can.

In the enclosed vertical garden, produce is grown in a controlled environment, according to information on the school’s website.

Growing plants vertically significantly reduces the amount of space needed, and the ability to control the environment enhances the growing cycle.
