Wheel presents cheques to Okotoks, Turner Valley Legions

Shaun Jessome, publisher of the Western Wheel, centre, presents cheques to Nancy Tonn, left, poppy chair at the Okotoks Legion #291, and Paul Barton, right, president of the Turner Valley Legion #78, on Nov. 14. Each Legion received $350 with revenue raised from the newspaper's Remembrance Day feature that appeared in the Nov. 8 edition of the Western Wheel.

Revenue raised by the Western Wheel is supporting Legions in Okotoks and Turner Valley.

Representatives from each Legion were presented a $350 cheque by publisher Shaun Jessome at the newspaper's office on Nov. 14.

Paul Barton, president of Turner Valley Legion #78, and Nancy Tonn, poppy chair of the Okotoks Legion #291, accepted the funds on behalf of each Legion.

The Western Wheel raised $700 from revenue generated by a special Remembrance Day feature in the Nov. 8 issue of the newspaper and split the money evenly between the two organizations.

Tonn said the Legion is always grateful for support from the newspaper.
