A GoFundMe Page has been set up to support the children of Ania (Kaminski) Wardzala, a 38-year-old elementary school teacher from Cochrane, who was allegedly murdered by her estranged husband Benedict Kaminski in Calgary earlier this week. The victim's name was confirmed on Tuesday by Rocky View School Division.

Late Monday evening a friend of Ania Wardzala set up a  GoFundMe campaign for Ania’s three children.

“We are heartbroken to share the tragic passing of Ania Wardzala, a beloved mom, daughter, sister and friend,” wrote family friend Diana Wysocki. “...Ania’s dear children, are now facing an unimaginable loss. In this devastating time, we seek to provide support and help these kids navigate their grief, ensuring they have the resources and care they need as they move forward without their mom.

“Ania would have done anything for her children,” the GoFundMe page noted.

Benedict Kaminski was found dead near Water Valley late Monday evening.

Calgary Police Services said they were no longer searching for a suspect after his body was discovered and said autopsies will be conducted on Jan. 3.

Rocky View Schools also put out a statement on Tuesday.

"We offer our sincerest condolences to all who are impacted by Ania Kaminski’s death," reads the statement. "Ania taught a Grade 1/2 class at Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School in Cochrane this school year and previously taught at École Edwards Elementary School in Airdrie (2018-2024) and at Springbank Community High School (2015-2018). She will be deeply missed by many colleagues, friends and students at Rocky View Schools (RVS). We are grateful for the positive impact Ania had on the lives of our students and staff over the years.

"Our focus is on supporting our students and staff through this difficult time. Families have been made aware of supports available in our schools for any students who may need them. We encourage parents/guardians to reach out to their school’s administrators to discuss the needs of their students. RVS staff are encouraged to access our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP) for additional support."
