The Calgary coffee invasion continues: Good Earth Coffeehouse, which has 50 locations nationwide, has set its sights on Vancouver as part of its major expansion plans.
While you may not be familiar with the brand now, the company is hoping to be a household name in Canada in the coming months and years.
Launched in YYC in 1991, Good Earth recently revealed it had modernized its look and had signed a deal with Canadian bookseller and lifestyle retail giant Indigo, to boot. Good Earth cafes have been sliding in as replacements for defunct Starbucks shops in western Canada. The company's first outpost in B.C. opened this year in Prince George at the University of Northern British Columbia.
Looking ahead, however, Good Earth Coffeehouse is set to grow its B.C. footprint, first with a pair of locations in Victoria (at the Bay Centre and Victoria General Hospital). Those cafes are projected to be open sometime between late 2022 and early 2023. Later in 2023, Good Earth is aiming to debut in Vancouver with a cafe located within an Indigo bookstore in the city. Further details about the brand's entry into the Vancouver market are not yet available.
According to a recent social media post, the company is also looking for franchisors for the Vancouver Island market, as well as in Abbotsford, among other Canadian cities.
Good Earth "began with a desire to serve exceptional coffee and wholesome food, with a down-to-earth attitude," according to a media release.
Calgary's coffee chains have been making big moves in the Vancouver market lately. Deville Coffee is already poised to make a major mark in YVR with four downtown locations (of which two are already open), and Calgary's Analog Coffee is moving west into B.C. and will be making its Vancouver debut in Yaletown in an ex-Blenz (338 Helmcken St).
