The man charged in the stabbing death of a St. Albert teen appeared in court Monday morning.
Kaj Alexander Randall, 28, charged with first degree murder in the death of a 17-year-old teen and attempted murder, pulled on an orange jumpsuit over a white t-shirt as he walked through the door of the video room at Edmonton Remand Centre at about 9:45 a.m.
After a brief appearance before Justice B.R.Garriock, Randall is now scheduled to appear before a judge and jury at a preliminary inquiry March 26 to 28, 2025.
The purpose of a preliminary inquiry is to determine whether there is enough evidence against the accused to proceed to trial in the Court of King’s Bench.
Randall was arrested in Edmonton’s riverside neighbourhood July 18, where Mounties were called to a residence around 10 p.m. that night. When officers arrived two teen girls were both suffering from multiple stab wounds. They were brought to hospital, where the 17-year-old succumbed to her wounds.
Police believe the suspect and victims knew each other.
Randall remains in custody.
