The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre is currently looking for a Marketing Research Specialist Intern to join our Marketing Team. Under the direction of the Sales Support & Marketing Manager, the successful candidate will assist in conducting market research, identifying trends, optimizing marketing assets, and creating organizational/divisional social media content. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience by contributing to SSMIC’s marketing strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Create inventory of digital marketing materials to develop and market the SSMIC brand by:
- Using multiple digital and social platforms to share organizational/divisional messaging 
- Creating and developing original social media content 
- Researching and identifying new opportunities for marketing 
- Creating an inventory of images, graphics, infographics, and presentations that can be used to promote SSMIC and its divisions 
- Managing social media content calendars
- Following appropriate approval processes for public facing documents

Support the marketing strategy and assist divisions by: 
- Participating in multidivisional meetings to discuss ongoing projects and determine marketable activities 
- Assisting with planning events and raising our profile within in the community 
- Editing and review public facing documents 
- Seeking out areas for improvement in marketing across all divisions
- Offering marketing services to divisions 

Qualifications:
- College diploma or University degree, preferably in a Business, Marketing or related field
- Strong research skills and experience conducting research
- An aptitude for accurate, highly detailed analytical skills
- Ability to create and give presentations showcasing research findings to large audiences
- Ability to design social media graphics and/or other related marketing assets
- Ability to work both independently and on a team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to utilize the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to use Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
- Passion for marketing, design, and research
- Good to excellent understanding of several areas of IT would be considered an asset.
- Ability to speak French is considered an asset.

This is a 12-month position with a flexible start date.

Candidate Criteria
- The candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who is entering a new field.
- Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.   
- Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
- Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed.
