We are a registered non-profit society (It Takes a Village Okotoks Community Foundation) helping families in the Foothills area of Alberta that are facing hardships. We provide families free essential baby supplies in the first year of their baby's life. We are based in Okotoks, Alberta and serve the surrounding Foothills region including High River, Diamond Valley, and Eden Valley.
Donations from the community are received by volunteers who sort through the items and lovingly pack baby boxes for families in need. It Takes a Village provides these boxes in a confidential, compassionate and non-judgemental manner. We also have referral-based programs with local family service agencies for the purchase of car seats, cribs, and formula.
We were founded in 2015 by a group of local moms who saw and understood the need for free essential baby items for families experiencing stress and hardships as they prepared to welcome their newborn. They also knew that this need could be met by other local parents looking to donate locally and extend the life of the gently used items they had for their own children and “It Takes a Village” was born!
