Elton John tribute draws overflow crowd to Olde Towne Okotoks

McRae Street blocked off to accommodate big crowd at the Thursday Nights @ the Plaza concert series.

Rob Skeet had them rockin’ in Olde Towne on Thursday night.

The Elton John tribute artist performed to an overflow crowd during the second of the Thursday Nights @ the Plaza concert series on July 18.

The crowd was so large that it spilled out from the Olde Towne Plaza onto McRae Street, which was blocked off for the performance.

In ever-changing costumes, Skeet took Elton John fans through a 50-plus-year musical journey of the musical icon’s greatest hits, sharing many anecdotes along the way.

The Town of Okotoks has expanded its Thursday Nights @ the Plaza series this summer to offer a free concert every week over eight weeks. The series opened last week with a performance by The Back 40.

Open to all ages, the series will offer a unique mix of genres with a diverse lineup of performers and entertainers. Here’s a look at the remainder of the lineup for 2024:

July 25 — Wagonstage Theatre

Aug. 8 — Foothills Brass

Aug. 15 — SNB 80’s Tribute Band
