SA Picnic at the Piano
Tricia Edwards plays at a previous Picnic at the Piano event. She returns to perform at noon on Wednesday, July 17.

The monthly Picnic at the Piano concert series continues tomorrow (July 17) with a performance by Tricia Edwards.

The free, family-friendly concert, presented by the Town of Okotoks and the Okotoks Arts Council, will be held on the lawn of the Okotoks Art Gallery from noon to 1 p.m.

Edwards is a freelance pianist based in Calgary, who earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in classical piano performance from the University of Alberta, with summer studies at the Banff Centre and Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.

During this time, she was a national finalist in the Canadian Music Competition and performed with the University of Alberta Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Sinfonietta.

Her most recent release, Sunlight, a solo piano project comprised of original compositions and original arrangements of favourite melodies, was a pandemic project that drew on her classical training and experience as well as more recent experimentation in the world of jazz and Latin music.

Edwards will be joined by Raul Gomez Tabera, a percussionist and drummer originally from Cuba, but now based out of Calgary.
