The Okotoks Art Gallery is extending the deadline for an invitation for artists and curators to submit their work for inclusion in next year's exhibition schedule.
“Okotoks is a progressive town with a vibrant arts community,” Okotoks culture and heritage manager Allan Boss said via press release. “The Okotoks Art Gallery (OAG) reflects this wealth of creativity and dynamic energy, and features two gallery spaces for exhibitions.”
The OAG's exhibition schedule is programmed a year in advance, according to the Town. This allows the gallery to fulfill requirements for funding from the provincial and federal governments and provides sufficient time for planning large displays accompanied by educational programs.
Boss said the OAG is particularly interested in expanding its reach.
“We’d love to see exhibit proposals from the Treaty 7 community or creative submissions that explore environmental issues,” he said.
The deadline to submit work has been extended to June 30 at 11:59 p.m.
All mediums will be considered for display. Selected artists will be compensated using CARFAC (Canadian Artists' Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens) rates.
A selection committee will come up with a final list of artists by the end of August.
According to the Town, the committee may request studio visits or additional correspondence with artists and curators prior to making a its final decision.
Only online submissions will be considered and only successful applicants will be contacted.
