Okotoks community gathers for another Picnic at the Piano

The Wednesday, July 17 Picnic at the Piano brought two talented Calgary-based performers to Okotoks.

This year's annual Picnic at the Piano concert series is coming to a close soon, with the final show of the 2024 season happening next month.

The Wednesday, July 17 iteration of the monthly summer concert series brought Calgary-based performers Tricia Edwards and Raul Gomez Tabera to Okotoks.

Edwards, a pianist educated at the University of Alberta, Banff Centre and Mozarteum University Salzburg in Austria, was a national finalist in the Canadian Music Competition and has performed with the University of Alberta Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Sinfonietta.

Tabera, a percussionist hailing from Matanzas, Cuba, has been a musician since the age of eight and taken his talents worldwide with decades' worth of performances throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

The final 2024 show is happening on Wednesday, Aug. 21 and will feature a performance by country artist Brettyn Rose, the Okotoks Dawgs' longtime anthem singer.

Picnic at the Piano is a collaboration between Okotoks Heritage & Culture and Okotoks Art Council, and takes place at the Okotoks Art Gallery.
