A winning entry has been chosen after votes were counted at the Avenue of Trees in Okotoks.

The “Four Seasons” tree decorated by staff at Spicer’s Apothecary/Pharmasave in Diamond Valley earned the Fan Favourite award, and staff picked up the trophy at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn & Suites on Dec. 16.

Each year, businesses and organizations around the Foothills take part in Avenue of Trees by decorating Christmas trees that are displayed at the hotel and are then delivered to families in need of a Christmas tree.

Members of the public vote for their favourite tree, casting a ballot at the display or on social media, and the winning decorators receive a $250 Sobeys gift card to donate to their charity of choice.

Ten trees were decorated for the Avenue of Trees and each was sponsored for $500, raising funds for the Sheep River Health Trust to support health services, wellness programs and purchase medical equipment for the Foothills.

Avenue of Trees was held at the Best Western Plus Okotoks Inn & Suites from Nov. 17 to Dec. 17.
