The Simpora Foundation has ducks for sale. Rubber ducks, that is.
The Okotoks-based non-profit, which is hosting its second annual Rubber Duck Race & Family Fun Carnival on Saturday, Sept. 14, has begun selling rubber ducks for the race down the Sheep River.
Rubber ducks will be launched near the Sheep River Bridge with the assistance of a few local mascots. They will journey down the river and under the Laurie Boyd Bridge to the finish line.
If your adoption paper's number matches the number on the bottom of the winning duck, you’ll win $2,000. Second place nets $1,000, while third place and last place both win $500.
Rubber ducks can be bought in one of three ways: a Lonely Duck costs $10, a Quack Pack (six ducks) costs $50 and a Flock of Ducks (12 ducks) costs $100.
Ducks can be purchased at simporafoundation.com/adopt-a-duck.
The race begins at noon.
The carnival in adjacent Ethel Tucker Centennial Park will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature games, a dunk tank with local celebrities, food trucks and more.
All funds raised support the local community through the Simpora Foundation, which is committed to building a strong foundation for athletes based on three pillars -— sport, health and the community.
