Guidelines for commercial and industrial development in north Okotoks have been adopted by Town council.
The North Point Area Structure Plan (ASP) was recently approved following an open house and public hearing earlier this year. The ASP covers an area of about 660 acres between Highway 2 and 48 Street, on either side of 338 Avenue.
The land is planned for development into a large business park and employment area that will be built over approximately 20 years, the Town said.
Eventual land uses could include agribusiness, manufacturing, warehousing, clean energy, and retail and services.
A 55-acre recreational campus, that will provide a variety of recreational opportunities for users from Okotoks and the surrounding area, is included in the plan area, according to the Town.
The area has been designed around plans for a future interchange at Highway 2 and 338 Avenue.
Existing businesses near Highway 2 and 338 Avenue are not included in the ASP area.
