Eligible Albertans can book appointments for respiratory virus immunizations.

Appointments can now be booked in Okotoks for COVID-19, flu and RSV vaccines.

Those eligible can schedule an appointment by calling Health Link at 811 for pharmacy or AHS clinic appointments, by directly contacting a local pharmacy, or by using the Alberta Vaccine Booking System, the Province said.

“Adding an extra layer of protection this fall is the best way to guard against the illnesses that typically arise during the fall and winter months,” said Dr. Mark Joffe, Alberta chief medical officer of health.

Appointments for COVID-19 and flu shots can be booked as of Monday, Oct. 7 for openings starting Oct. 15.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) immunization appointments can be booked for openings beginning on Oct. 21.

“The respiratory virus vaccines that will be offered this fall are specifically designed to offer strong defense against the strains of these viruses that are expected to circulate this season,” Joffe said.

In addition to influenza and COVID-19 immunizations, eligible residents of continuing care homes and senior supportive living accommodations will have access to Abrysvo, a publicly-funded RSV vaccine, through the Alberta Outreach Program.

Seniors living in the community who are 75 years of age and older will also have access to a limited supply of the RSV vaccine.
