Extra copies of Wheel will be available in event of postal work stoppage

Rural customers will receive this week's edition of the Western Wheel, but a work stoppage could impact deliveries moving forward.
Door-to-door mail service in St. Albert is scheduled to cease on Aug. 17 and be replaced by community mailboxes.
Tensions are heating up between the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and Canada Post.

The labour dispute affecting Canada Post won’t impact rural deliveries of this week’s edition of the Western Wheel

The Nov. 13 edition of the Wheel will be delivered to rural customers as usual but work stoppages could potentially impact deliveries moving forward.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has given 72-hour strike notice to Canada Post, meaning workers will be in a legal strike position as of Friday.

Canada Post countered by issuing lockout notice, which also comes into effect on Friday.

Should a work stoppage prevent delivery of the Wheel to rural customers next week or beyond, there will be extra papers added to all boxes and retail locations in Okotoks, Diamond Valley, High River and Longview, so rural customers can pick up a copy.

Delivery of the Wheel in Okotoks and Diamond Valley won’t be impacted by any Canada Post work stoppage.

The two sides in the postal dispute have been bargaining for the past year but remain far apart on several issues, including wages.
