Foothills farmers' market season around the corner

Starting in June, local Farmers Markets will be up and running across the Foothills, with locations including Okotoks, Millarville, High River, Nanton, Bragg Creek, Granary Road, and Saskatoon.

Foothills farmers' market season is upon us once again. 

Starting this month, local farmers' markets will be up and running across the Foothills, with locations including Okotoks, Millarville, High River, Nanton, Bragg Creek, Granary Road and the Saskatoon Farm. 

Notably, an exciting change is coming to the Okotoks Farmers' Market this year as they prepare to host their market in a brand new location. From June 14 to Sept. 20, it is now taking place at the Foothills Centennial Centre.

Hosted by Inclusion Foothills, the market will include 50-60 vendors over the course of summer, with 80 per cent of products being Alberta made. They will carry a wide range of products from baked goods to clothes, art, snacks, aromatherapy, and everything in between. That market will be joined by six other farmers' markets from across various Foothills locations, selling local handcrafted goods throughout the remainder of the sunny season. 

Okotoks Farmers’ Market – 

Open every Friday from 3:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. starting June 14 all the way to September 17.

Now being held at Foothills Centennial Centre parking lot, the market Includes 50-60 different vendors selling a wide range of goods, with 80 per cent of products being locally made in Alberta. 

Millarville Farmers’ Market – 

Open every Saturday, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., running from June 15 to October 12.

Millarville will be host to 185 different vendors, including growers, farmers, makers, bakers, and artists. An admission of a $3 donation is suggested to help to support costs of grounds and building maintenance.

High River Farmers’ Market – 

Open every Thursday from June 20 to September 12, going from 3:30 p.m. - 6:30p.m.

It will be set up along 4th ave SE in downtown High River, and is hosted by Inclusion Foothills.

Nanton Farmers’ Market – 

The Nanton United Church Farmers’ Market is open Saturdays from June 15 to September 28, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.. It takes place outdoors in the United Church parking lot on Highway 2 south.

The market is populated with vendors selling homemade or homegrown products including fresh produce, jams, artisanal products, and more. 

Bragg Creek Farmers’ Market – 

Begins June 16th and runs every Sunday until September 22, except for July 21.

Their market will include a space to visit, a variety of stores to shop from, and plenty of different and unique things to eat.

Granary Road Farmers’ Market – 

Open Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Granary road includes fresh eats, crafts & local products. Granary road sells a variety of local small businesses that you can’t find anywhere else. 

Saskatoon Farmers’ Market – 

The Saskatoon Farmers' Market, established in 1975, is open year round on Saturday’s 8 a.m. -2 p.m., and Sundays 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The market will begin operation around mid-June. 

It is a member-owned and non-profit cooperative organization. Its market brings together visitors with local producers of high-quality agricultural products, baked goods, prepared foods, crafts, and a variety of other items.
