GALLERY: Ducks race down Sheep River for fundraiser and carnival

The Simpora Foundation held its second annual Rubber Duck Race & Family Fun Carnival on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Over 1,500 ducks made their way down the Sheep River for a local fundraiser.

The Simpora Foundation held its second annual Rubber Duck Race & Family Fun Carnival on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Ethel Tucker Centennial Park.

"Compared to last year's [inaugural duck race] we were able to adopt twice as many ducks out, so next year our goal will be to hit that 2,000," said director Roanne Bodnarchuk, who estimates that over $15,000 was raised in rubber duck adoptions ahead of the race.

The Okotoks-based non-profit, which is committed to building a strong foundation for athletes, also hosted a carnival featuring fun games as well as mascots and players from local sports teams including the Dawgs, Oilers and Bisons.
