GALLERY: Knights gather in High River for medieval tournament

Hosted by the Historical Armored Combat Sports Association, the High River Medieval Faire and Tournament was held on June 29 and 30.

Medieval combat enthusiasts gathered in the Foothills for the first annual High River Medieval Faire and Tournament on June 29 and 30.

Held at the High River Agricultural Society grounds, the event featured an armoured combat tournament with melee fights with weaponry such as longswords, sabres and halberds, MMA-style 'pro fights' and chaotic three-on-three and five-on-five battles.

The event, hosted by the Historical Armored Combat Sports Association, brought together combatants from across Alberta, including members of the Foothills Arverni Legion, featuring combatants from Okotoks and High River, and Calgary's two armoured combat societies, the Silver Gryphons and the Wardens of the Red Tower.
