A week-long gym unit at Good Shepherd School let students experience wheelchair-based sports

Elementary school students in Okotoks got the chance to experience adaptive sports during a wheelchair unit in gym class.

During the week-long unit at Good Shepherd School, students practiced wheeling around the gym before playing tag and basketball while navigating the gym in wheelchairs.

Physical education teacher Brent Lendvay said the unit encourages inclusion and gives students a unique opportunity to learn about accessibility in sport.

The school's wheelchair unit wrapped up on March 14.
