GALLERY: Okotoks teachers splashed with 'mystery soup' in fundraiser

Things got messy at a junior high fundraiser in Okotoks.

Gunk was dumped on teachers in an Okotoks junior high school's fundraiser.

St. John Paul II Collegiate's fundraiser for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation on Oct. 4 included the opportunity for students to dump "mystery soup" on their teachers.

Each "mystery soup" was a different concoction, ranging from chocolate and mashed potatoes to wet popcorn and expired condiments.

The event aimed to raise funds and awareness in the student body, said teacher Sarah Lutz.

"We're just trying to evoke emotion and compassion in them to recognize that there truly are people in this school who have family members, maybe parents or siblings, who are dealing with cancer, and that it's a very real thing for somebody to be coping with at the same time as going through junior high," she said.
