GALLERY: Those who served remembered in Okotoks, Diamond Valley

Foothills community members gathered for Remembrance Day services on Nov. 11.

Remembrance Day services were held on Nov. 11 to commemorate those who served.

The indoor Okotoks service was held at the Viking Rentals Centre by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #291, the Okotoks Legion, with the support of the Town of Okotoks.

The names of Okotoks-area service members killed during the First and Second World Wars, which adorned the Field of Crosses along Northridge Drive, were recited during the service.

The ceremony featured performances by the Foothills Philharmonic Chorus and Cappy Smart Band, as well as a performance of Soldier's Last Letter by George Pambrun. An outdoor service was held concurrently at the Okotoks Cenotaph.

In Diamond Valley, a Remembrance Day service was hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch #78, the Turner Valley Legion, at Oilfields School.

The ceremony featured the recitals of hymns and prayers, a reading of In Flanders Fields, a playing of the Last Post, with performances by bagpippers as well as the concert band from the Foothills Music Society.
