As we celebrate the joy of the holiday season and welcome the new year, on behalf of the Town of Diamond Valley’s Public Safety Department, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all residents and visitors. This time of year is a wonderful opportunity to connect with loved ones, reflect on the past year and look ahead to new beginnings.
However, as we embrace the festivities, it’s important to remember that safety should always be a priority. The holiday season can bring its own set of challenges, but with a few simple precautions, we can ensure that everyone enjoys a safe and happy time.
Safety tips for a joyous holiday season:
• Be Fire-Smart: Always check Christmas lights for frays or broken bulbs, and never leave them on unattended. Keep candles away from decorations and ensure they’re extinguished before leaving a room.
• Travel Safely: Winter weather can create hazardous road conditions. Slow down, keep an emergency kit in your car and make sure your tires are in good condition.
• Secure Your Home: As many of us travel, remember to lock doors and windows and set timers on lights to give the appearance that someone is home.
• Celebrate Responsibly: If you’re planning to celebrate with alcohol, have a designated driver or use a taxi or ride-sharing service to get home safely.
From all of us at the Town of Diamond Valley Public Safety Department, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with peace, happiness and good health.
Stay safe, stay merry!
