Diamond Valley's iconic Beneath the Arch concert series will see country singer Mariel Buckley take the Flare n' Derrick stage this weekend.
Buckley, originally from Calgary but currently based in Edmonton, is no stranger to playing big shows.
"I tour about half the year," said Buckley. "Usually not as much in Alberta anymore because I have kind of been working internationally for the last three or so years.
"It's pretty rare for me to play Alberta. I usually try to save those shows for when an album's coming up. It's exciting to get to go to Turner Valley."
Buckley has been a singer-songwriter for around 10 years and calls it her "full-time gig."
"I do a lot of solo and duo touring," she said.
Her brother, fellow country singer Tim Buckley, plays with his sister as a duo at some shows.
While she typically plays alone or with her brother, Buckley will be accompanied by her band for this performance.
"I've worked this particular show with this crew for quite a minute," said Buckley. "It's super fun to play with the band, so it's just a little more dynamic and flavour than the solo or duo show for sure."
Buckley had attended many Beneath the Arch shows while growing up in Calgary, but this will be her first time playing the venue.
"It's just a good group of people," said Buckley. "Kind of a nice mishmash of Prairie folk who just wanna come together, have some beers and enjoy the show."
The show will be held at the Flare n' Derrick Community Hall on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
