UPDATE: Students released after nearby police situation locks down schools

Some Black Diamond residents are being told to 'shelter in place' while police respond to an incident in a mobile home park

UPDATE: 5:10 p.m.

Students have been released from a locked-down Black Diamond school near an unfolding police situation, confirms an area parent. 

Oilfields High School was also locked down temporarily as a precautionary measure. 

Firefighters dispatched to the situation were called back to the station after 4:30 p.m. and traffic was reportedly flowing again. 

RCMP have yet to issue any statement regarding the police situation that began before 3 p.m. Tuesday. 

This report will once again be updated when RCMP provide more details. 

UPDATE: 4:06 p.m. 

A school in Black Diamond is reportedly on lockdown due to a nearby police incident. 

A parent said they arrived to C. Ian McLaren School for pick up but no children are being released at this time.

Turner Valley RCMP have a residence in a mobile home park in Black Diamond surrounded Tuesday, Dec. 14, and nearby residents are to "shelter in place" for the time being. 

The heavy police presence will remain in the area until further notice.

Two firetrucks and two ambulances are on scene and police are redirecting traffic in the area, a witness told the Wheel

Residents are urged to refrain from sharing photos and video on social media. 

Residents in the area of Government Road South to Centre Avenue East and 3rd Street East to 2 Ave SE are being told to stay inside unless otherwise directed by police.

RCMP said no further details will be made available until the situation is resolved.
