Foothills Community Immigrant Services (FCIS) is rolling out the welcome mat for Ukrainians who have recently arrived in Okotoks and Foothills County.

Similar to an event held last summer, the agency is hosting a potluck for new arrivals, host families, community members and volunteers to meet and mingle.

The winter-themed gathering is set for this Saturday, Jan. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Okotoks United Church. Everyone is welcome to attend and bring a food dish to share with the group. There will be games, music, face painting and crafts.

Mayor Tanya Thorn is expected to attend.

FCIS said the goal is to bring everyone together to meet each other and feel supported by the community.
