Downtown Okotoks will be flooded with musicians, magicians, dancers and other performers this Saturday (June 22) as the Spring Into Summer Festival (previously known as Buskersfest) makes its return.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Elizabeth Street.

According to Okotoks community event specialist Connie Drake, the festival provides a unique opportunity for local performers.

“We do have a lot of talent in Okotoks, so it's nice to be able to see this event coming together for them to showcase what they can do,” Drake said.

Visitors are encouraged to show their appreciation for the performers with a small cash donation in the form of a loonie, toonie or a five dollar bill.

Buskersfest was started several years ago as a way to provide youth and local entertainers a platform to show off their talents and every year, including this year, anywhere from 20 to 30 entertainers take part.

For this year, Buskersfest has officially changed its name to Spring Into Summer Festival to better accommodate new forms of entertainment, including roving entertainers, a KidZone at the Okotoks Art Gallery and a photo booth.
