What’s the state of tourism in Okotoks? Before work starts on a new tourism strategy, the Town is asking stakeholders that question.

Okotoks Economic Development is working on a plan, called Shape the Future of Okotoks Tourism, to help develop a long-term vision for the local tourism sector.

Before developing a new tourism strategy, the Town wants to know what strengths, opportunities or challenges currently exist.

“This year, our primary focus is on reviewing the current state of tourism management in Okotoks,” an Okotoks Economic Development spokesperson said.

In its early stages, work involves talking to those with direct involvement or a vested interest in Okotoks’ tourism sector.

Stakeholders are invited to provide input during virtual workshops or by completing a survey. Residents may be able to provide input in later stages of the process, the Town said.

The tourism strategy will be developed next year. It will involve creating a management framework, followed by a strategy to support local businesses, enhance visitor experience and foster lasting economic growth.

"Our goal is to build a sustainable and inclusive tourism ecosystem that not only drives economic development but also enriches the quality of life for residents and ensures a positive, memorable experience for visitors," the Town said.
