The Town of Okotoks has released its proposed Our Plan for Downtown, which is now ready for public review and feedback.

The plan will guide gradual changes and redevelopment as they naturally unfold over time in the downtown core.

Our Plan for Downtown was presented to Okotoks council for first reading on March 24, with a public hearing scheduled for April 28.

Shaped by community feedback and insights from past plans, the plan updates and aligns key policies in a bid to create a vibrant, connected and thriving downtown.

The plan’s vision for downtown is to be the social, cultural and economic heart of the community, one that attracts people and investment.

Guiding principles in the plan include creating a vibrant economy and active spaces as well as maintaining the area’s unique character. Enhancing natural spaces and creating a diversity of housing are also guiding principles.

The 96-page plan can be found at shapeourtown.okotoks.ca/downtown/downtown-plan
