Okotoks Paint-A-Potty winners announced

Outdoor washrooms in Bill Robertson Park, Kinsmen Park and Sheep River Park will be painted with the winning murals in May.

Three public park washrooms are set to get beautified by three high school students after their designs were chosen as the favourites of the community.

Phase Three of the Paint-A-Potty project was launched by the Town of Okotoks last month, with a request for residents to vote on their favourites of nine murals, all of which were created by student artists at Foothills Composite High School/Alberta High School of the Fine Arts,

After 739 community submissions, Sophia Partridge's design has been chosen for the facility in Bill Robertson Park, Paige Williams's work will be featured at Kinsmen Park and Brooklyn Quinn will paint her design in Sheep River Park.

Students were asked to submit designs relating to the upcoming Alberta Summer Games, which are coming to Okotoks and Black Diamond in July. The winning designs are intended to emphasize the healthy value that sports, community and art have to offer.

The Town said in a release the initiative offers added beauty to the functional facilities and helps to deter vandalism and graffiti.

Mural painting is expected to begin in May with all designs scheduled for completion before the end of this school year.
