An online budget survey asks Okotoks taxpayers how those tax dollars should be allocated.

Homeowners haven’t even paid this year’s property tax bills yet, but the Town of Okotoks is already seeking input on next year’s budget.

The Town has launched an online survey that asks respondents to share their views on municipal service levels and where tax dollars should be spent.

The short survey is intended to help municipal decision makers understand what services are most valued and whether taxpayers feel tax dollars are being allocated properly.

Many of the questions ask whether funding should be increased, decreased or remain at the same level for a variety of civic services, including roads, sidewalks, parks and pathways.

The survey also asks about appropriate funding levels for recreation, arts and culture, transit, protective services, economic development and more.

Another question asks: If you could choose one area, program or service that you believe would contribute the most to the community, what would it be?

Lastly, the survey asks taxpayers to rate the overall value of services they receive for their tax dollars.

The survey is open until June 9 and the results will form part of budget deliberations later this year.

The survey can be accessed via shapeourtown.okotoks.ca
