Okotoks splashing into summer

The Okotoks spray park is set to open ahead of the Victoria Day long weekend. 

Splishing and splashing will commence on May 20, when the attraction opens for the 2022 season. 

The park has 12 new features and an on-site public washroom, according to the Town's website, as well as various play areas for different age groups. 

The water spray park is located outside the Okotoks Recreation Centre beside the skateboard park and is typically open beginning May long weekend until the Labour Day weekend in September, weather permitting. 

During that time, the park is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., as long as the temperature is above 20 C and there is no inclement weather. 

According to the Town, the park runs on a closed loop water recycling system, so dispensed water is collected, filtered, disinfected and reused. Apart from the small amount of water lost to evaporation and splashing, nearly all the water used by the park is recycled. The water in a closed system is regulated by the same public health rules as a swimming pool.
