A deer was spotted wandering Okotoks with a ball of twine wrapped up in its antlers Wednesday morning.
Residents posted to a local Facebook group the buck had been spotted along Downey Road on Nov. 15 with what appeared to be a ball of yarn in its antlers.
The material appears to be a nylon cord with several knots, possibly a netting. The animal did not appear to be in distress, and males tend to shed their antlers over the winter.
Making his way from yard to yard, the buck also made sure to cross Downey Road only at the designated and marked crosswalk before heading through a green beld up to Welsch Crescent.
As of publication time, Alberta Fish and Wildlife has yet to respond, but in past instances, advised that members of the public do not try to approach wild animals.
Anyone who spots animals in immediate distress can call the 24-hour Report A Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800.
