PHOTOS: Drag kings and queens light up Salute in Okotoks

The Kings and Queens Drag Show performed two sold-out shows at an Okotoks restaurant on Dec. 2 and 3.

Drag shows are a form of entertainment where performers don extravagant costumes and makeup and lip sync (or in some cases sing) to pop music. They often involve play acting and other pantomime elements in the over-the-top acts.

The medium, which was popularized by hit TV shows such as RuPaul's Drag Race, has also become a means of expression for LGBTQ2S+ pride.

According to event organizer Tom Barker, the shows at Salutè raised $3475 for Okotoks Pride, a community group in the process of becoming a not-for-profit organization.

He said future shows are in the works.
