The RCMP are warning residents about a recent property crime trend in Okotoks and the Calgary area.
According to an RCMP media release on May 29, officers in Okotoks, Strathmore and Chestermere have responded to residential break-ins and thefts from vehicles over the last few weeks, believed to have been committed by the same three suspects.
Victims' vehicles are entered and their garage door openers and vehicle registration information taken. Later, these victims are targeted for residential break and enters.
The RCMP is asking the public to secure their vehicles even when camping or in remote locations, as some vehicles were targeted while the victims were camping.
Residents should also consider not keeping garage door openers and documents with sensitive information, such as home addresses, in personal vehicles, and ensure all thefts from vehicles are reported to police.
The RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and suspects. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to call Strathmore RCMP at 403-934-3968 or your local police department. For anonymous calls, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
