The Rolling Barrage will be rolling into town today (Wednesday, Aug. 16).
A cross-Canada motorcycle ride to raise awareness about PTSD among members of the Canadian Armed Forces, veterans and first responders, the Rolling Barrage will ride from Medicine Hat to Okotoks on Day 16 of the three-week odyssey.
Riders are scheduled to cruise down Veterans Way in the late afternoon and arrive at the Lakeview Inn and Suites at 5 p.m. They will take part in a meet-and-greet at The George at 6:30 p.m.
After overnighting in Okotoks, riders will stop for breakfast at the Turner Valley Legion tomorrow morning on their way to Cranbrook.
The ride started in St. John's N.L. on Aug. 1 and is slated to finish in Vancouver on Aug. 19.
Carola Singer, chief marketing officer and Alberta representative for the Rolling Barrage, said the ride, now in its seventh year, continues to grow.
She said well over 200 riders will take part in the ride at various points along the way, with about 100 expected to be on the two legs that make their way through the Foothills.
Singer said members of the public are encouraged to cheer riders on as they come through town and are welcome at The George to talk with the participants.
