The Town is planning major improvements along North Railway Street next year.

The Town of Okotoks is seeking input from the public on a large-scale downtown construction project scheduled to start next year.

The Town is hosting an open house for the project at Bow Valley College tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov. 13). Residents can attend one of two drop-in style sessions: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. or 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Those who can’t attend in-person can engage online from Nov. 13 to 26.

Upgrades to the downtown area will include road and underground utility work and improvements to public spaces and streetscapes. It will be done in two phases and is expected to take two years to complete.

The Town solicited public input on the project in the summer and a What We Learned Report was released last month, which found the main concerns to be a disruption to customer access for area businesses, the loss of parking spaces and the long construction timeline.
