Trail: Gunnery Creek Trail and Ridge

Difficulty: Intermediate

Length: 8 km

Ascent: 475 metres

Trailhead: Drive west of Longview on Highway 541. The trailhead is on the north side of the road, about 5 km west of the Kananaskis flags.

Description: The Pack Trail coulee to Grass Pass is very popular, but if you head west and hike up Gunnery Creek to Gunnery Pass the trail is more open and much less rocky. Gunnery Creek trail travels north up to an open-ridge walk with stunning mountain views to the west and Grass Pass to the east. Expect wild flowers to be in abundance during the summer.

Reminder: Take adequate water, food and clothing in the event of sudden weather changes. Ensure someone knows where you’re going and when you’ll be back in the event you get lost or injured. Hiking alone is not recommended.
