The Carstar Okotoks Bisons’ points streak will be stretching to three months.
Okotoks (21-3-1) polished off a pair of key divisional triumphs on the final weekend before the holiday break to extend its win streak to nine and games without a regulation loss run to 13 to sit atop the Heritage Junior Hockey League standings.
On Friday, Okotoks outlasted a pesky Coaldale Copperheads squad by a 4-3 score on Friday night at the Murray Arena following a resurgent final 40 minutes.
Facing a 2-0 deficit in the second period, Okotoks forward Zephyr Laplante scored twice after Adam Kirkpatrick got the hosts in the middle stanza.
Defenceman Caden Scott then broke a 3-3 tie midway through the third period with the alternate captain’s eighth goal of the season. The Okotokian leads all HJHL blueliners with 29 points in 25 games.
Brylin Noble kept the visitors in it with a 52-save performance while at the other end of the ice Connor White made 21 saves.
Okotoks closes its December account on Saturday in a 2-1 road win over the second-place Medicine Hat Cubs.
Seamus Garagan and Laplante provided the offence with White stopping 23 shots for his eighth consecutive victory in between the pipes.
The Bisons moved to seven points up on the Cubs with a game in hand.
The herd assembles next month with a Jan. 2 game in High River and Jan. 4 home date versus the Three Hills Thrashers.
