The Foothills Storm have put a stop to the runaway division leader's unblemished start.
Foothills snapped the Cochrane Chaos’ 12-game undefeated start to the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League with a 3-2 road triumph on Sunday to earn a split of the home-and-home set with the top team in the South Division.
Storm forward Mackenzie Aasen broke a 2-2 deadlock in the third period with her first goal of the season to vault the Storm to the one-goal victory on Nov. 10.
Mya Dease and Abby MacNeil both notched their fourth goals of the season earlier in the contest while Paige Williams made 39 saves on 41 shots to backstop the visitors.
On Saturday, Cochrane cruised to a 7-2 win at Okotoks’ Viking Rentals Centre.
MacNeil and Emma Stead scoring for Foothills in the loss.
The Storm (4-8) will look to make it two wins in as many games when they take their show to Oilfields Regional Arena on Sunday, Nov. 17 for the team’s first home game of the campaign in Diamond Valley. Puck-drop is 4 p.m. versus the Calgary Titans, the second seed in the South.
