Facing one of its stiffest tests of the campaign, the top-ranked Holy Trinity Academy Knights powered to a season best 70-7 result over the No. 8 ranked Chinook High Coyotes Friday night in Okotoks to improve to 6-0.
Chinook opened the scoring on a special teams fumble recovery touchdown with the Knights roaring back on the ground.
HTA registered total yards, 407 rushing, to overpower the visitors from Lethbridge and avenge a narrow loss in last year’s fixture.
Seth Poelzer scored three first half rushing touchdowns, quarterback Declan Lyth connected with Malik Robbins for a 20-yard receiving touchdown with Ben Gutek and Grade 10 quarterback Nash Marzoff adding running majors.
The Knights defence gave up just 61 total yards of offence in another dominant display.
Across town, it was tough sledding for the Foothills Falcons with a 58-14 loss to the Medicine Hat High Hawks.
Quarterback Emerson Liepert threw touchdown passes to receivers Chase Brockhoff and Josh Simard to highlight the offence, which produced 202 total yards.
Next week, the Falcons are home to Lethbridge’s Catholic Central Cougars on Oct. 4.
HTA’s senior team is not in action until Oct. 11 when it takes on Calgary’ St. Francis Browns.
