Three junior Okotoks jiu-jitsu competitors took home medals at a Calgary tournament earlier this month.

The PEAK Grappling Spring Scramble 2025 tournament held on April 5 drew competitors from all over the world. The grappling event featured divisions in gi and no-gi for all ages. A gi is a traditional martial arts outfit comprised of a heavy cotton jacket, belt and pants.

The boys held their own and then some in the competition by taking home five medals: three gold, one silver and one bronze.

The three competitors have been training hard at Okotoks Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in preparation for the tournament.

Emmett Wolf won silver in no-gi 10-year-old division, Jeremy Larsen won a gold and bronze medal in the gi and no-gi 7-8-year-old division while Easton Wolf won double gold in the gi and no-gi 10-year-old division.

The boys were excited to bring the medals back to Okotoks and to their gym.

“It was super fun," said Easton Wolf. "I got to meet new people and make new friends, I like competing.”

The three boys celebrated with milkshakes and high-fives after the long and successful weekend.

Coach Jon Caldwell, who has been working closely with them for three months, couldn’t be more proud.

"Knowing we are helping to build the next generation, and when they get knocked down, to get back up, to me that is a huge win," said Caldwell.
