The Okotoks Mavericks are springing forward from a wildly successful Winter Provincials.
Okotoks produced seven medals, two club records, 39 top 10 finishes, 95 per cent best times and a Youth Recognition award to highlight a sterling turn from its 14 competitors at the Swim Alberta Winter Provincial Championships, held March 20-23 in Edmonton.
Lucy Wiens showcased her prowess in the backstroke with a trio of provincial medals, gold in both the 50m and 200m and silver in the 100m.
Wiens, who achieved Top 10 Youth Recognition status for her all around performances, also set club records in the 200m backstroke and 100m freestyle events.
Peyton Jones also registered a multi-medal performance on the weekend with silver in both the 100m and 50m breaststroke events.
The Mavericks had two more trips to the podium with Charlotte Johnston touching the wall second in the 200m backstroke and Oscar Bednarz sprinting to silver in the 50m butterfly.
Adding top 10 finishes were Declan Harrison, Mikayla Paul, Katherine Kohn, Slade Diakiw, Gibson Hurd, Mary Giuffre and Carson Vollman.
