New Year, new talent for the Okotoks Oilers.

The Oilers announced on Friday they’ve added a skilled forward to their ranks with the acquisition of 2006 born forward Teo Pisani from the Spruce Grove Saints for future considerations in a BCHL transaction.

“Teo is an energetic and crafty player who should fit in well with our group of younger players,” said Oilers head coach and GM Tyler Deis in a team release. “We feel he has room to grow and will make a valuable addition to our team.”

Pisani, a University of Nebraska-Omaha commit, has seven points in 13 games this season and totalled 13 goals and 23 points over parts of two years with the Saints.

The Pisani name will be familiar to Alberta hockey fans.

Teo’s father Fernando Pisani, an eight-year NHL veteran, is widely remembered for his exploits during the Edmonton Oilers’ Stanley Cup run in 2006 in which he led the playoffs with 14 goals and five game winning tallies.

Teo, who came up through the St. Albert Raiders minor hockey system, played with Oilers hard-hitting forward Jacob Goudreau during the 2021-22 season with the U18 AAA Raiders.

Okotoks, winners of three games in a row and seventh in the Interior Conference with a 14-15 record, are back on the ice on Saturday night when the Salmon Arm Silverbacks make their first visit to the Viking Rentals Centre for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
