Home cooking is a highlight of the holiday season.
And for the Okotoks Oilers it’s also spelled a significant stretch of success with the BCHL team improving to 9-4 at the Viking Rentals Centre following a 5-4 seesaw triumph over the Spruce Grove Saints in Friday’s pre-holiday home finale.
Swedish netminder Simon Westling made 28 saves to earn his first victory in seven games with the Oilers.
Spencer Rheaume broke the 4-4 deadlock with 4:04 left in regulation as Okotoks knocked off Spruce Grove one week after the Saints skated to a 7-3 home result in the first meeting of the season between the clubs.
Brock Souch added his fourth of the season for the Oilers with a wicked wrist shot on the rush, rookie forward Ryan Boyce scored his second of the season on a goal mouth scramble, Jackson Rowland tallied his team leading ninth goal on a tic-tac-toe play with linemates Souch and Hunter Sawka and Jamie Hikida opened the scoring with his seventh marker.
