It is with heavy hearts that the family of
Anthony “Tony” John Wilford announce his
passing on Saturday April 29, 2023 following
a long battle with chronic illness, which he
endured with courage and grace.

Tony was born October 18th, 1945 in
Leicester, England. At 18 years of age, he
joined the Territorial Army as a Royal Electrical
and Mechanical Engineer (REME) where he
met his wife, Irene. In 1967, the pair started
a new life in Canada and eventually settled in
Okotoks, Alberta to raise their three children.

Tony worked as an Instrumentation and
Electrical Technologist in Alberta for 51 years.
He loved nurturing his family with camping
trips, baking and home grown vegetables.
Tony was also an avid sports enthusiast and
a life-long fan of the Leicester City Foxes. He
took great joy in supporting his sons’ sports
pursuits, and spearheaded the formation
of the Okotoks Minor Soccer League that
is still ongoing to this day. Following his
cancer diagnosis, Tony’s great strength and
resilience inspired many in their own battles
with the disease.

Tony is survived by his loving wife Irene,
his sons Stephen, Craig (Robyn) and Keith
(Tara), grandchildren Taylex and Callum, and
brother-in-law John Morrison.

Arrangements have been entrusted to
Snodgrass Funeral Home Ltd. (Okotoks);
condolences can be made via their website.

A funeral service will take place Friday
May 12th, 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Anglican
Church (31 Riverside Way, Okotoks, AB)
where Tony and Irene had been members
since 1974. The service will commemorate
the life of Tony, who gave so much joy and
inspired many.

“We will miss your sense of humour
and will remember you always with
kindness and much love, forever.”
