Donelda was born and raised on her family’s farm near Riverhurst, Saskatchewan, the only daughter of Addison and Lena (Sinclaire) Dean. After graduating high school, she attended Normal School and taught in several country schools near Mortlach, Saskatchewan. It was there that she met and married her husband Harvey Thompson. They moved to Moose Jaw and added to their family, a son Wayne and a daughter Barbara.

For 29 years Donelda taught school in Moose Jaw at King Edward School and Ross School. After retiring in 1980, she moved to Turner Valley, Alberta to be near her family. She was an active member of The Valley Neighbours Club and especially enjoyed floor curling and playing Bridge. When her health began to fail, she moved to Calgary in 2013.

Donelda is predeceased by her husband Harvey, her sonWayne, brothers Stanley (Olive) Dean, Donald Dean, and James (Edith) Dean.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Byron) Birch, granddaughters Danica (Malcolm) Palmer and Raegan (Jeremy) arkel, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Celebration of Life will be held in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
